Amniotic Membrane Treatment for Dry Eye

Prokera

Prokera corneal bandages are designed to heal damaged corneas by promoting regenerative healing. Easily applied by our trained eye care professionals, Prokera features cryopreserved amniotic membrane tissue that actively stimulates recovery, restores healthy epithelium, and reduces scar tissue. Early intervention with Prokera enhances the cornea's natural healing, reduces inflammation, and optimizes long-term recovery.

What is Prokera?

Prokera is a cutting-edge therapeutic device designed to treat a variety of eye conditions, particularly those involving inflammation, irritation, and damage to the corneal surface. The device features a clear amniotic membrane, sourced from the innermost layer of the placenta, renowned for its exceptional healing properties. This membrane is rich in natural anti-inflammatory and anti-scarring proteins and is securely fitted into a ring that is gently placed on the eye to promote optimal healing and comfort.

The Prokera Treatment Process

  1. Consultation: During your visit, our eye care specialists will evaluate your condition to determine if Prokera is the right treatment for you.

  2. Application: Amniotic disks are advanced medical devices applied directly to the eye in-office. These disks are placed on the damaged cornea and covered with a soft contact lens. Over the next 5-7 days, the disk dissolves into the cornea, initiating and promoting the healing process immediately.

  3. Follow-Up Care: You will be scheduled for a follow-up visit to monitor your healing progress and ensure optimal results. During this appointment, the contact lens will be removed.
